MARK KIMBER in ‘SPECULATIVE SPACES’

2 March to 26 March 2013
Robin Gibson Gallery, NSW in association with Art Month Sydney 2013

This exhibition draws together artists who use miniature models to create a
version of the world both startling and half-familiar. Conventionally used as a prototype, such as in architecture, this exhibition demonstrates how the miniature models may be transformed into an alternative reality.

"Mark Kimber assembles miniature sets in order to stage his photographs of nocturnal scenes embroiled in tense filmic narratives. Mysterious dramas play out amid eerily lit sets suggestive of ominous scenarios and supernatural encounters. His works deal in a kind of visual trickery reminiscent of cinematic special effects of the pre-digital era." David Eastwood, 2013

‘Specualtive Spaces’ was included in Concrete Playground's Ten Best Things To Do At Art Month Sydney.
