23 December 2011 - 25 March 2012

Antarctica has long been a region that has fascinated and captivated imaginations. First sighted in the early part of the nineteenth century, systematic examination of the mainland began around the turn of the twentieth century.

Accompanying mesmerising early twentieth-century photographs of the continent are more recent works by American Eliot Porter, Australians DavidStephenson and Peter Dombrovskis as well as New Zealanders and Stills artists Anne Noble and Megan Jenkinson.

The National Gallery of Australia has also recently acquired works by Anne Noble for their collection.
