MARK KIMBER: DISAPPEARERS

Gippsland Art Gallery, VIC
14 November 2009 - 24 January 2010

This exhibition features the work of 8 photographers who are focusing on the absence of the human presence. By dwelling on the traces that people leave behind-their material or spiritual residue-these images challenge us to consider our relationship with the environment. The selection of Mark Kimber's Edgeland series continues his fascination with the deserted borders of suburbia in the eery twilight zone, when the light of the fading sun and artificial streetlamps merge.
