Daniel Kojta's video works also teeter between fact and fiction, exploring the perception of phenomena. ALIEN PRESENCE H - [HANDMADE ECHO] comprises a series of eleven video works shot by artists here and overseas. The reference to 'Alien' in the title indicates the distance required by perception in order to generate phenomena. Each artist has shot six minutes of video in a desolate environment such as desert, industrial, and airport landscapes. In Australia this is common in desert areas, the emptiness inspires phenomena. These videos have sought to capture this mystery. Each artist was given the instruction to shoot with the horizon line at a common height throughout and each had their time zone coordinated to initiate the shoot at the same moment in time across the eleven time zones - from Denmark to America. The common horizon line will link all works as they are in time.
