Stephanie Valentin - Chiasma

Chiasma is Stephanie Valentin's beautiful and evocative examination of our evolving relationship to nature. This work is inspired by her continuing concern about biotechnologies and the impact of genetic manipulation. Her images - large black and white photograms of plants and glass vessels - magnify unexpected details which would usually escape the eye such as tiny hairs and intricate textures. They challenge the tendency of the human gaze to enclose and contain nature.
